Spirit Things
By Lara Messersmith-Glavin
A collection of essays that evoke an adventurous spirit and the craving for myth, Spirit Things examines the hidden meanings of objects found on a fishing boat, as seen through the eyes of a child. Author Lara Messersmith-Glavin blends memoir, mythology, and science as she relates the uniqueness and flavor of the Alaskan experience through her memories of growing up fishing in the commercial salmon industry off Kodiak Island.

KMXT: Kodiak Mayor Pat Branson to be inducted into the Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame
Hey all… there is 24 hours left (Until 6 pm Sunday June 26) to be a part of the launch of my wife Joan’s new book ” Shattered Dreams– Finding Hope in Tragedy”.
This is the true life story of the four tragedies (one for each of our family members) my wife has gone through in our family’s life.… intractable seizures with our daughter Hannah, my life and death plane crash in 1992 during the Iditarod, Joan’s battle with breast cancer, and our son Ben’s 95 foot fall down the fire ladder resulting in a traumatic brain injury.
She talks about each calamity and the faith walk it took in order to make it through those tragedies. Many people have tragedy in their life worse than ours. But we have certainly had our fair share.
Since we put it on Kickstarter a little over a week ago, we have met our goal in order to send it to the printer. You can help us go beyond our financial goal to get it printed . Now, any help above that will pay for the writers who helped us make the book s reality. Your pledge at a certain level will have your name printed in the book as a supporter— or just pre-order a book and show your support. THANKS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION.
You can read more about the project and support it on Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/…/shattered-dreams-finding…
