Alaska Run for Women: Looking for a few good people!

It takes a special group of volunteers to make this annual all-women’s run and breast cancer fundraiser happen. Since 1993 more than $5.3 million has been raised and granted to organizations concerned with breast cancer research, outreach, education and early detection.

The volunteer board of directors is responsible for setting policy, fundraising, fiscal oversight and reviewing grant requests for the money raised. They also assist the volunteer race director and race committee with publicity, merchandise sales and other areas required to ensure a successful event. The organization seeks to have diverse representation on the board, and currently has a need for anybody with accounting, social media/marketing, or oncology experience. For more information or to apply, please see the board application here. Applications will be accepted until December 28, 2021.

Maybe you are the right person to fill one of the following critical race day Race Committee positions!

Water Stations Chairperson

Helps to identify appropriate areas on the race course for water stations. On race day, delivers tables and supplies to the volunteers staffing each water station. Post-event tear-down of stations and returning supplies to the RFW storage facility.

Start Area/Corral Set-Up Chairperson

Works closely with the race director, course marshal, volunteer coordinator, and the logistics chair to determine placement of race corrals. Oversees start line/corrals set up and tear down on race day along with a group of volunteers.

If you think you’re the right person for any of these race committee positions and would like more information and a comprehensive list of duties and responsibilities, please email Race Director Sarah Wottlin here. It is our intention to fill these positions ASAP so that planning for our 30th annual event will include all key players.
