The AMHS Reshaping Work Group takes suggestions about the future of Alaska’s ferry system. Over the next two weeks, there will be two public input sessions to participate in. Teleconferences are scheduled on Aug. 26, from 3 – 6 p.m., and Sept. 2, from 4 – 6 p.m. Questions and comments may also be emailed to DOT.AMH-Reshaping@alaska.gov.

Tulsi Gabbard deployed to Alaska: Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard left for Alaska on Thursday to begin a two-week deployment with the Hawaii National Guard. Gabbard, who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination, is helping Alaska Natives address various issues, including healthcare, construction, transportation, and cybersecurity, according to sources. Gabbard has been in Hawaii’s Army National Guard for 17 years, including two deployments to the Middle East. She chose not to seek reelection this year. Gabbard was 1 of 7 candidates who earned delegates during the Presidential primary. It has been a tradition that spanned decades for any candidate who earned a delegate to be offered a speaking slot at the convention. She confirmed that she was not invited.
