Founders’ Day Celebration

Saturday, Aug. 28. Mark the Aug. 28, 1903, arrival of the town’s founders on the steamship SS Santa Ana by participating in an open house at the Seward Museum with free admission and music on the pump organ by Sue McClure. This year’s event starts at 1 pm in the Community Room with a tribute to historian Mary Barry, who passed away last year. Then at 2 pm there will be free admission to the “Movies@2” with films about the history of the Iditarod Historic Trail and the 1964 earthquake. Starting at 3 pm, mark the town’s 118th “anniversary” celebration with cupcakes and light refreshments.
