Nixle is making changes – make sure you don’t miss out!!

The Anchorage Police Department does not own Nixle. Let’s be honest, if we were going to branch out, we’d buy something fun. Like an ice cream store, or a mountain-biking shop, or (let’s just say it) a doughnut factory.

Nixle is a separate company we do business with in order to communicate with all of you. Nixle has recently announced some changes to the way they push out data. To ensure you don’t miss any of our important information, please make sure you have your email address attached to your Nixle account. To either add your email, or verify you’ve already done so, log on to www.Nixle.com and click “Resident Login” at the top of their page.

Nixle will still send some alerts via text on your cell phone. However this will only be done in situations wherein the public needs to immediately be notified of an ongoing situation such as road closures, public safety issues, or endangered missing people.

While you’re in your Nixle account you may also sign up for notices from other local departments who utilize Nixle for communication purposes:

Alaska State Troopers HQ
Anchorage Fire Department
Anchorage Health Department
Anchorage Office of Emergency Management
Anchorage Street Maintenance
Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility
Alaska Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing
Anchorage Community Development
Anchorage Public Library
Anchorage Public Transportation Department
Port of Alaska

Knowledge is power. Stay informed by those who serve you and your neighbors. Happy spring!!
