Upcoming Activities

Thursdays: Our History will kick off for the 2022 season with a program by local historian Doug Capra starting at 7 pm Thursday, Jan. 20 in the Community Room. His focus will be on John and Ginger Davidson — the last homesteaders at Driftwood Bay. In August 1977 the Davidsons and their 3-year-old son left Seward harbor in their small open boat to head for home. They never made it. Doug is writing a multi-part series about the Davidsons for the Seward Journal newspaper.
Artifact of the Month

The December Artifact of the Month is a Selective Service Medal awarded to Leon Urbach for his work on the local draft board during World War II. Leon Urbach established Urbach’s clothier in 1915 and lived in Seward until his retirement in 1954. The Selective Service Medal was designed to be given to uncompensated personnel. Many of these people were volunteers who gave their time in the evening and on weekends.
